Alistair and Melanie Chetcuti have been dancing together Latin American and Ballroom Dancing for the past twenty two years and during this time they have always been an outstanding and successful dancing couple in Malta.
Alistair and Melanie had the opportunity to compete abroad and obtain good results. They represented Malta in the International B.A.T.D. Championships in Weymouth, in various I.D.S.F. International Championships, in the European Championships 2002 held in Barcelona, and in the most prestigious dance festival in the world: The Blackpool Dance Festival. During their career, the couple won several local championships. They held the title of the Closed Medallists Championships from 1996 to 1999. They also won the Moses Fenech Memorial, Malta Euro Trophy, Malta Amateur Pre-Champ Championships 2000, Malta Dance Spectacular 2002, Malta B.A.T.D. They became Maltese Amateur National Latin American DanceSport Champions in 2003.
The couple had the opportunity to be coached by some of the world top coaches and dance champions who gave them inspiration and encouragement in their dancing.
In September 2005 Alistair and Melanie decided to move on to their next stage in their dancing careers. Their ambition to dedicate their time to dancing as well as to share their knowledge and experience in Latin American and Ballroom Dancing through teaching took them to England where they studied and sat for the B.A.T.D. Professional Associate examination. Both obtained excellent results in Latin American as well as Ballroom Dancing. Alistair believes that dancing is a lifelong learning process and therefore continued to study for the Member professional examination in both Latin American and Ballroom Dancing in which he obtained highly commended results. Later he went further in his studies and sat for the Fellow professional Latin American examination in which he also obtained excellent results.
Together with their dancing experience and through the in depth studies done throughout the years, Alistair and Melanie established their school as one of the leading Latin American and Ballroom Dance Schools in Malta.
