VIP YOUNG DANCERS
‘The Art of Class’ is a performance showing the perfect symmetry between the Musician and Ballet Dancer.
Karen MacIver and celebrated Royal Ballet trained dancer, Kristen McGarrity team up in an hour-long live performance wrapped in close-up film footage, showing the art of the dancer’s warm up and preparation behind the scenes before stepping out onto the glory of the stage. Using film and live feed we see the dancer transform from athlete to an onstage Goddess in a new version of Fokine/Saint-Saëns celebrated Dying Swan.
Every young dancer knows all about the detailed rehearsal hours put in behind the scenes so that they can realise their dream to work in a professional Ballet Company .
Kristen McGarrity has worked internationally as a dancer, choreographer and stage director for major Ballet Companies and returns to her home town of Glasgow for this one-night-only performance. Karen MacIver has spent the majority of her career in dance studios producing, playing and promoting the best music there is for classical dance in a unique musical idiom which she calls Music for Moving Image.
