The British Association of Teachers of Dancing

Ballet Research Project

Dear Members,

We have been contact by Susan Boucher requesting help with a research project. Here is some information/background on Susan and the details of the project along with a participant information sheet:

I am a part-time postgraduate research student in dance history at the University of Roehampton. I’m supervised by Drs Helena Hammond and Geraldine Morris. I’m conducting research into the staging of ballet in Britain in the 1950s and 1960s. As part of that, I am very keen to talk to people about their recollections of going to the ballet (whether as children or as adults) at any time during those two decades.

Participant Information Sheet.

Would any members be willing to help?
I’m a part-time postgraduate student at the University of Roehampton. My research is looking at the history of ballet in Britain in the 1950s and 1960s. As part of the research, I’m very keen to talk to people who recall going to see ballet at any time during those years. The 1950s and 1960s aren’t as widely researched as some eras of dance history, and capturing the recollections of audience members will form an important part of the project. If anyone would like to be involved, or would like more information, I can be contacted by email at bouchers@roehampton.ac.uk, by phone on 07748 648 387 or by post to Research Project, PO Box 339, Par PL25 9HP. Thank you very much, Susan Boucher.

Regards,
