The British Association of Teachers of Dancing

U.S.A Atlantic Seaboard

The BATD Atlantic Seaboard has their annual general meeting in February at the Marguerite Reid Memorial Workshop. Professional Examinations are offered at the General Meetings.

This year we are introducing the format of Amateur Examinations at the Teacher’s request at both Meetings and in conjunction with the Celtic Classic in September.

The Celtic Classic will also offer a Professional Development day for all BATD members on the Sunday after the competition.

We would love to hear from you!
Respectfully Linda Reid Tarpy – BATD Secretary Atlantic Seaboard

The mission of the Alexandria School of Highland Dance is to celebrate and spread the joy of traditional Scottish Highland Dance through classes for children and adults at all levels in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. Through our long affiliation with the Washington Scottish Pipe Band, we regularly perform at St. Andrew’s Society of Washington DC events such as the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan at the National Cathedral, Burns Nicht Supper, and the Tartan Ball, as well as other festivals, parades, and private events. Dancers also have the opportunity to participate in Highland dance competitions across the country. Our three instructors – Anne-Marie Berens, Amy Jenkins, and Amy Shields – are members of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and ScotDance USA.
