Important Information Regarding 2020 Scholarships

The President, General Secretary and Trustees would like to inform you that all UK and North American Scholarships for the 2020 year have been cancelled. We have not taken this action lightly and want to assure you that the best interests of Teachers and students have been first and foremost in this decision.

Though this is disheartening to all of us, it is in the best interest of our BATD students, teachers and examiners. Unfortunately, with the current situation and Government regulations regarding the Covid-19 virus, we have made this difficult decision.

Due to school closures and the uncertainty of when life as we know it will gain some type of normalcy, we know the bottom line of your student’s education comes first and foremost and the reinstatement of your business will be key. Examinations will probably not be a priority, as you try to rebuild your client base. With financial difficulties and many studios not being able to reinstate classes until perhaps July, August or even September we want to assure you that we are here to help.

With the cancellation of this year’s Scholarship events, it does not mean that student’s with nominations from the completed exams this season will not be eligible. The BATD will hold these nominations for the year and enable these student’s entry to the 2021 events.

This means if a student completed an exam within the New Scholarship year and was nominated for this year’s event the nomination will be held to 2021 scholarship. If this same student takes an exam at a level higher within the balance of this season and receives an additional nomination the student will be entered at the Grade of the last nomination.

We are all working through this difficult time and trying to navigate new regulations, safety and the wellbeing of not only our Dance families but our loved ones. The President and Officers want you to know that we will do our utmost to ensure that your needs are met.
